For an elderly resident, a timely meal offers more than nourishment. It brings routine, comfort and the quiet reassurance that someone has remembered their needs. Ageing, illness and reduced mobility can make preparing or accessing food increasingly difficult. Within an elder care centre, every breakfast, lunch and dinner must be planned carefully so that residents receive regular food in a clean, respectful and supportive environment.
Citizens Welfare Foundation provides daily meals to residents across its two rented elder care centres. Among the 55 residents, approximately 15 to 20 receive complete care without charge because they came from the streets or lacked dependable family support. Their food expenses are met through the foundation’s own resources and donor contributions. Groceries, milk, fruits, tea, snacks and nutritional requirements create a continuing responsibility that must be fulfilled every day.
A birthday, anniversary, memorial day, religious occasion or family celebration can become deeply meaningful when it provides food for elderly residents. Breakfast sponsorship is currently available for ₹2,500, while lunch sponsorship is ₹3,000. Supporters may also contribute towards everyday food requirements, helping the centres maintain regular meals beyond special occasions.
Meal support carries a simple but powerful message. It tells an elderly person that their wellbeing still matters. When food is served with patience and respect, it creates a moment of connection around the table. A contribution towards meals helps Citizens Welfare Foundation continue offering residents nourishment, comfort and the familiar warmth of eating within a caring home.
