A secure home for an elderly person depends upon responsibilities fulfilled every day. For residents who once lived on the streets or had nobody reliable to care for them, the continuity of these essentials provides a sense of safety that may have been missing for years.
Citizens Welfare Foundation operates two rented elder care centres for 55 elderly residents. Approximately 15 to 20 residents receive complete care without charge, while the families of other residents contribute towards their accommodation and care. Each centre requires regular spending on employee salaries, electricity, maintenance, housekeeping supplies, food, diapers, medicines and medical treatment. These are recurring responsibilities connected directly to the comfort and wellbeing of every resident.
Operational support may appear less visible than sponsoring a meal or helping one person, yet it holds the entire home together. A maintained room gives residents a clean place to rest. Reliable electricity keeps essential facilities working. Caregiver salaries ensure that help remains available for bathing, dressing, eating and routine personal needs. Every contribution helps sustain the surroundings and people upon whom residents depend.
